Motorhomes need their air tanks drained

Motorhomes with air brakes usually have a compressed air dryer built into the compressed air system. As it’s name would suggest, the air dryer is designed to remove moisture that is created anytime you compress air.

It does a good job but typically does not rid the tanks of all of the moisture. Over time the water accumulates in the bottom of the air tank.

If water remains in your system for long periods of time it can cause the bottom of the air tank to corrode, eventually resulting in tank failure.

To prevent a future safety risk down the road, you should drain the water from your air tanks at the recommended intervals stated in your owner’s manual.
