The Abilene City Council also voted to update ordinances for RV/travel trailer parks.
The revamped ordinances would allow larger RVs to stay for longer periods of time at RV parks – up to one year on site.
There are lesser requirements for private trailer parks, too.
Abilene City Manager Larry Gilley said this is a result of changes in the industry.
“They will still have to have restroom facilities, but just not as many or as large because many of the travel trailers and recreational vehicles now have self-contained restroom facilities, so this is really just modernizing, if you will, our ordinances relative to this industry,” Gilley said.
