Rent an RV from a fellow RVer.
For Bob Weisberg of Chester Township, RVShare worked so well that he bought a second recreational vehicle to use for his own family trips.
Rentals of his motorhome to others went without a glitch, and now he’s generating a nice retirement income while camping whenever he wants.
It all started a few years ago.
“My wife was pestering me to sell it since it was just sitting there depreciating half the time,” Weisberg said.
Then he discovered RVShare, an Akron-based online company that helps people rent an RV, covers the insurance and guarantees roadside assistance for those whose rentals it facilitates. RV owners negotiate their own per-day rate for the rentals and specify details such as whether dogs are allowed and whether their car can be left while they drive the motorhome.
When someone wants to rent an RV, RVShare collects payments and arranges the deposit and insurance.
Those who rent leave comments about their experiences on the RVShare website, rvshare.com and many of them rent multiple times when they find a motorhome that suits them.
The RVShare website lists all sorts of recreational vehicles, from pop-up campers and VW hippie vans to trailers that can be towed and self-driving units up to 30 feet long.
Prices are listed by the day, with insurance and a deposit additional. RVShare also charges a fee for its services.
