Dometic Group, global supplier of comfort and convenience products for the recreational vehicle (RV), automotive, truck, marine and lodging industries, today announced that it will introduce a versatile new RV fridge, the Dometic Super Hybrid Refrigerator, at the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association’s (RVIA) National RV Trade Show, to be held in Louisville, Ky., Dec. 1-3. The Super Hybrid has two independently controlled units, a fresh food fridge on top and a drawer freezer on the bottom. Show attendees can see the Super Hybrid at Booth #157.
The Super Hybrid addresses the growing demand for flexibility – when on the road, dry camping or at a campsite. The fresh food unit, on top, uses energy-efficient absorption technology that can run on either propane or electricity. The fresh food unit has 3x the evaporator size of standard RV fridges, with technology that allows it pull down in half the time of a standard absorption refrigerator. The modular drawer freezer, on the bottom, uses powerful variable-speed compressor technology, and runs on 115VAC or 12VDC electricity. Together, the units provide nine cubic feet of extra-large storage capacity.
“Many RVers are looking for extra food storage, but also need power-source flexibility depending on where they are travelling,” said Dave Schutz, Vice President, RV OEM Sales and Marketing, Dometic Americas RV Division. “The top fresh food unit, which can run on propane or electricity, is great while en route to a destination, or when camping without shore power. Once parked at a campsite and plugged into an electricity source, the bottom drawer offers home-style deep freezing or refrigeration. Together, the two units provide plenty of space for fresh food, drinks and frozen items.”
Fresh Food Compartment. The Super Hybrid’s spacious fresh-food compartment maximizes storage options with five adjustable shelves and four door bins, with an oversized lower door bin for 2-liter and half-gallon containers. Inside the fridge, clear bins and crispers allow contents to be easily visible. The Versatile Racking System™ allows many configurations of shelves.
Two bright white LED lights give the fresh-food section clean, even illumination. The lights also feature integrated open-door alarms and an airing position. The control panel, hidden behind the door for a sleek appearance, is backlit, with LEDs for easy reading.
Full-width doors provide a residential, built-in appearance. Attractive black powder-coated aluminum handles have an integrated locking mechanism that needs no special motions to open.
Bottom Drawer – Freezer or Fridge. The Super Hybrid’s drawer refrigerator can be set to deep-freeze, refrigerate or “off” with the simple press of a button. It is quick to cool down, thanks to variable compressor technology. The variable compressor and a custom-designed evaporator provide rock-solid freezing or additional refrigeration. Premium stainless steel slides hold an oversized basket that can handle 100 lbs. Two additional baskets extend and retract for additional storage above the main bin.
“The Super Hybrid gives RV enthusiasts what they want – a residential-style refrigerator designed with their travel and lifestyle needs in mind,” said Doug Curtis, VP of Marketing for Dometic Americas. “The Super Hybrid can adapt to different power situations, has a door lock and can store up to nine cubic feet of food, drinks and frozen foods. With this revolutionary new unit, there’s no need to try to jerry-rig an ill-fitting home refrigerator into an RV using straps or bungee cords.”
