RV Interior Add-ons Make it Home

I like having a place to hang a jacket, my around-the-house jeans, or whatever just needs hanging up. I installed clothes pegs on a bare wall soon after we moved into our first fifth wheel and they were nearly the first things I added to our new fifth wheel.

You can get clothes pegs and hooks of all types, colors and designs so finding some to match the interior of your RV should be possible. I found mine at Home Depot. They’re pretty plain but were inexpensive, had reasonably long pegs… important when hanging things like heavy jackets… and had four pegs on one bar… I can never have enough pegs.

The shelf over the door was an add-on too. I had always wanted a place to display a few of my wood carvings and the space over the door in our new fifth wheel seemed to be the spot for a display shelf. It took a while but I finally found the shelf at Michaels… a craft store. It was unfinished and was actually too big when I bought it. After, cutting it to fit and spraying it with semi-gloss Deft lacquer it comes acceptably close to matching the cabinetry.

The wood carvings are stuck down with earthquake putty and ride well as-is when traveling.

A word of caution: Be very careful about the length of screw you use. The screws don’t need to go into the wall more than a 1/2 inch.
