More ways to extend your RV travel dollars

Last updated on April 27th, 2009 at 06:52 pm

These days, everyone, even RVers, is looking for ways to save money. We’ve covered RV club, camping club, gas card and other discounts of Interest to RVers.

Here are a few more ways to extend your RV travel dollars.

Chamber of Commerce
If you’re planning your trip, check out the Chamber of Commerce website for the towns and cities you plan to visit. Call or email to request an information packet by mail. If you are on the road just stop in.

Not only will these info packets have plenty of brochures and information on various local attractions, they often include discount coupons.

Dining Out
Restaurant.com is a service that sells restaurant gift vouchers at a discount. You can typically get a $25 dining certificate for less than $10. Search their database for restaurants in the areas you’ll be visiting. Be sure you take advantage of Senior discounts and Senior menus.

Museums

Most major museums in the United States have one day a month or week where tickets are discounted or free. When you’re doing your research and planning your outings, make sure you investigate.

Theater, Concert, Sports & Events
If you’re headed to a big city and want to take in a show, concert, ball game or other event look for a discount ticket outlet. They sell off unsold event seats last minute at considerable discounts. Here are a couple sites to check out:
Goldstar.com
Stubhub.com

AAA
If you belong to AAA, ask about them about discounts on hotel, restaurant, theme park and offers along your route.

After almost 6 years of fulltiming, Malia is often asked for tips to help the newbie hit the road. Here checklist is an important part of the process. It’s always a good idea to review safety steps no matter how many times you’ve performed them and Malia share things she learned from her own experience (sometimes found out the “hard way”). She also had lots of expert input from those more experienced in areas less familiar to me. An RV salesman with over 20 years experience helped with the PDI process, a long-time trailer and 5th wheel tower overlooked that section. These lists were designed to be easy to use, broken down into four stages so you can print out just exactly what you need along the way. To Get More Info and To Buy, Click Here!

  1. Great tips, the AAA discount is really handy for travelers. Also, your campground staff (if there is one) will have a lot of ideas and maybe even coupons for the local area.
